On the heels of their new EP, the boldly titled “Good Morning Chester EP”, this Manchester, NH based roots-rock outfit is on the move.Born in the cold, dark, New Hampshire winter of 2004, “Good Morning Chester” is the brainchild of brothers Christopher (Scooter) and Michael Way. Initially an acoustic duo, the Way brothers garnered a grassroots following of dedicated fans, and their share of industry recognition.Soon the brothers Way were sharing stages with some of the biggest names in their genre, including Blessid Union of Souls, Edwin McCain, Sister Hazel, Brian Vander Ark (of Verve Pipe fame), Shawn Mullins, Jeffery Gains, and more.New Jersey indie-based Leap Dog Music and it’s owner, John Taglieri, took notice of the duo’s momentum and helped them produce their debut album, “Little Things”, released in June 2005. The disc received outstanding reviews, and completely sold out the first production run within months. “This album was a true labor of love. We were literally recording around the clock for eight days, and we had no idea how to make a record” says Scooter Way, front man and co-writer of GMC’s catalog. “John, Mike, and I played every instrument on that album, usually in one or two takes. It was just one of those moments when everything was clicking, and we really had a blast. To keep cost down, Mike and I shared a twin bed and we survived on nothing but frozen pizza and really cheap whiskey. It was awesome.”With the album complete the Way boys added percussionist Dave Schneider and Bass-man Marty Morrissey to join the supporting tour. Staying mostly in New England and the upper eastern seaboard, Good Morning Chester brought their music to the people, and the people responded. With the help of the internet juggernaut MySpace, and constant grassroots promotion, the band was almost doubling their draw after every appearance in major markets like Manchester and Boston. Good Morning Chester is continuing to bring their brand of indie roots-rock to New England and beyond. If you have to drive a few hours to catch their show, you should. It’s an experience you will remember. Check out music, videos, and more at myspace.com/goodmorningchester
