About GRAINNE

Peterborough, Canada

From Southern Ontario, singer/songwriter Grainne (pronounced Grawn-ya) won "Folk Artist Of The Year" at the 2009 Durham Region Music Awards and her debut album All The Money (released in 2007) was nominated for "Best Album". She was also nominated for "Best Country Song" and "Best Live" at the 2008 Toronto Independent Music Awards. In the Fall of 2010, the final touches were stroked upon her first full-length CD, Looking For Sunshine. It is a soulful masterpiece of 10 songs produced with the help of Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness) and guest players Neil Sanderson (Three Days Grace), Richard Underhill (Shuffle Demons), Ali Stead (Moraes Fate) and a few other friends who’ve shared a growing quest for a life of music with her. The sounds on the new album cover the breadth of the musical spectrum; from sweaty, southern rock, to countrified-folk, to a simple acoustic guitar, each song showcases Grainne's clear voice which is beautifully complimented by her sister Cora's harmonies.
There are few qualities as enviable in a high-calibre musician as their ability to connect to a listener or an audience in a way that transcends mere admiration or emotion, and Grainne carries this gift as naturally as her voice carries aloft from a stage. Her depth is resounding, her talent unmistakable and her dedication to the growth of her art is an inspiration.
