He begins studying piano at the age of four and writes his first composition at the age of six. At seven he composes a "ballad" for piano and voice and a "Gavotte" which he later plays for the Princess Heiress of Italy. Mr. Conus comes from an eminante family of musicians. Eduart Conus, his grandfather, a Professor of Composition with the Academy of Moscow had three sons who also were musicians: GEORGES, LEON and JULES. The TSAR ALEXANDRE III granted GEORGE, a composer like his father, a revenue for life. LEON a pianist and uncle of SERGE was the principal professor of his nephew and later became grand master at the CINCINNATI CONSERVATORY. JULES, SERGE'S father was a violin prodigy and received the GOLD MEDAL at the CONSERVATORY of MOSCOW and first prize at the PARIS CONSERVATORY.After having obtained his Baccalaureate at the Russian Gymnasium of ESSENTOUKI Young Serge leaves Russia at the age of seventeen and rejoins his parents and his brother in PARIS continuing his musical studies at the NATIONAL ACADEMY. During his stay with the Academy SERGE studies with the famous pianists ISIDOR PHILLIP and ALFRED CORTOT, and follows courses of organ, counterpoint and harmony. Shortly after his studies at the Conservatory SERGE leaves his family for BULGARIA where he spends two years in monasteries. Later he goes to SOFIA where he becomes bell ringer of the SAINT ALEXANDER Cathedral. His deeply religious nature prods him to enter the Theological Faculty of the UNIVERSITY of BULGARIA where in 1929 he obtains his license in Theology. Despite the demands of his religious studies he does not abandon music. He continues his piano and composition studies and is encouraged by the Polish Ministry of SOFIA to pursue a musical career in VARSOVIE. There he gives a series of "soir�es musicales" in the private homes of Polish Aristocracy. After a stay in VARSOVIE from 1929 to 1933 he returns to BULGARIA where he gives a series of recitals in concert halls and on the radio. In 1936 he is in VIENNA studying with PAUL VON KOHN eminent Professor and student of ANTON RUBENSTEIN. The following year he returns to PARIS where from this moment on he is well known in the Musical European Capitals. He gives a great number of concerts in VIENNA, PARIS, ROME, PISA, FLORENCE and other cities rendering works of BACH, BEETHOVEN, CHOPIN, LISZT and those of the Russian Composer MEDTNER as well as his own. Later in France at LA ROCH�LLE and COGNAC he gives a series of recitals consecrated chronologically to the music of BEETHOVEN and CHOPIN. in 1950 he departs for KENITRA MOROCCO where for ten years he is Professor of music and well known in the musical activities at the U.S. Air Base.
