G-roc was recently the featured artist of the month of October on poetry over music. G- Roc is a true definition of what Poetry Over Music Stands for. Not only is he true to the essence of his Art. He finds the time to support and inspire others to continue chasing their dreams. This man words move so deeply. He gives a raw, truthful and optimistic point of view with his poetry. He continually channels his obstacles, emotions, and dreams through his pen for all of us to experience. He is an Artist who is hungry for a poetic uprising. This is one man who is passionate about his Artist. He posses a raw Talent and harvests potential to be a very powerful influence in the poetry/Spoken word scene. Most recently he was also featured on Blog Talk Radio The Release. G-roc is now the newest member of the Flex writer team where he will be a important figure in the Society Of Urban Expression. Growing up in the inner city violence always worked better then words did. G-roc learned at a young that respect was something you earned; it was not just given to you. Gangs ran the neighborhoods cops abused their force which planted a seed in G-roc that police were the enemy. G-roc was raised by the streets his parents did all they could but the streets was to much a part of G-roc to ever give it up. In 1997 the movie love Jones changed his life after seeing how freely the poets recited their poetry and always remained cool with it. That made him see that words could be stronger then violence. So Instead of destroying the hearts of those who lived a life like his, he wanted to leave imprints in them. After having his children life slowly seem so much more worth living and having two boys and 5 girls he wanted to see them grow. Moreover did not want to see his boys go down the road which had consumed him. He had been living a life that only left him with scars and rough reminders of how life can be taken in a blink of an eye, G-roc had my break through when one of my closes friends got murder in front of him which was the inspiration to the first poem he ever wrote since then poetry has served as the medication to his depression the answer to his prayers as well as his out reach to the world. G-roc feels that if he can touch even one life through his words he is truly blessed for dead men can not speak and he is so very much a live. Thanks to poetry which taught him that words can take him as far as his mind is willing to go. G-roc has also been featured on Poerty Over Music Volume 4
