Country music has yet to crown a guy in his mid 20s as a hit song singer/songwriter especially in the country cross over type world. We have a lot of fantastic girls like Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Julianne Hough the list goes on and on but still no guys! What gives?
Singer/Songwriter Harley Jay has passion and conviction written all over every note he sings. Harley defines his style of music as CITY-COUNTRY, which to him means country music with a rock-n-roll flare! Being inspired by artists such as the high rock out vocals of Rascal Flatts, and the rock-n-roll grunge electric guitar of Keith Urban, mixed in with quick catchy melodies like those of Jason Mraz has influenced Harley and his sound.
Harley moved to Los Angeles right out of high school and it wasn’t long until he found his home on stage. He was whisked away from LA to join the national touring company of Miss Saigon and after doing the tour for 9 months returned back to LA only to be taken away once again to join the National Tour, and then on Broadway cast, in the Tony Award winning rock musical RENT from 2006 thru 2008 playing the lead role of Mark Cohen. There he was able to establish a very loyal and large fan base across the country. In October 2007, he released a Broadway album entitled “Between 41st and 53rd” that continues to be a huge success. While living in New York, Harley wrote his newest album called “Without Wax”. During his time on Broadway his first single entitled “And She Said” debuted on the radio with much acclaim.
After his radio debut, Harley opened on tour for Grammy winner James Otto and has shared the stage with the fantastic bluegrass/country female trio The Lovel Sisters as well as former “Wings” guitarist Laurence Juber.
Harley is known for his fun, intoxicating stage show and skilled songwriting. Whether performing hit cover songs or original music, Harley never ceases to impress his audience. Based out of Los Angeles, California, Harley hits the stage with a brilliant eight-piece band. He also puts on a fiery acoustic show filling up the stage with his incredible voice and a presence that can only be described as the “it” thing.
Harley has just finished up his new album “Without Wax” available on iTunes, at his shows, and on his website (www.HarleyJay.com
“I was able to do all this even after being held up at gun point in Scottsdale, AZ without the guy getting my wallet or car keys, I did get my ass kicked a little though.”
