The San Francisco based band known as Heart of Orion, originated out of a melting pot of musical influences, emotions, love and collaborations. The band is comprised of singer & songwriter Danielle Kerley and arranger & keyboardist Ty Oz (Tayfun Ozisik). Heart of Orion, which seeks to create enchanting & magical music, describes their sound as an, eclectic blend of Electronica, New Wave and Alternative music. Kerley and Oz express that their music represents their values, ideals, frustrations, fear and their love for each other that evolved into a bond that launched out of creative thoughts that they both share. Heart of Orion has created a unique style of music all their own, but note that some of their diverse influences along the way as Bob Marley, YES, Deep Purple, David Bowie. Heart of Orion’s music contains social and political messages while also bringing beats that will keep their listeners dancing all night. The debut album titled “How Far?” includes songs “Liberation Revolution”, “Flashback”, the island sound of “Get In to the Dance”, and the emotionally deep track titled, “Fear and Love.” For singer & songwriter Kerley, her artistic adventure began as both an actor in high school & lover of musical theatre after having seen the play “Les Miserables” numerous times. After high school she continued to pursue acting and explored other cross genre arts while traveling through different areas across California to Seattle and overseas to Scotland. It was during that time that Kerley created a dance platform for children and adults in addition to writing a play titled, “Blissfully Ignorant” while living in Edinburgh, Scotland. It would be 2006, when the song “Look at our Society” composed itself in Kerley’s head while sitting on a bench facing St. Giles Cathedral and the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, Scotland. Kerley found it odd as all five verses to the song magically formed together in her head without a second thought which caused her curiosity on what that meant. Kerley would learn from a good friend & Australian singer that her experience was the evolution of becoming a songwriter. Kerley’s vocals along with the unique music that Ty Oz composes, creates the perfect mixture that defines Heart of Orion.
