About Heather Kropf
Heather Kropf is a singer/songwriter/producer living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A native of Portland, Oregon, and trained in classical piano and fine art, Heather’s music speaks intimately, like a note passed in secret across a crowded room. What she does is at once open-hearted and indirect, with plenty of spaces for each listener to slip inside. “I hope that my songs create a sanctuary for people, even if only for a little while,” she says. “That’s how they function for me.”
Her growing self-assurance as an artist and producer can be heard on her three independent releases, Sky (2000), What Else is Love (2005), and Hestia (2009). Recorded in collaboration with some of the finest musicians in region, these albums are built around Heather’s understated yet confident vocals and fluent piano playing. Her tasteful arrangements highlight her vocal range, from crystal clear sweetness to burnished sensuality, singing and composing in styles from jazz/neo-soul to folk, to radio-friendly pop.
As an emerging artist from Western Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh’s premier independent AAA radio station, WYEP 91.3 FM, and Pittsburgh Magazine’s music writer, Tim Stevens, have both tagged Heather Kropf as an artist to watch.
