Heron Demarco, emcee/producer/instrumentalist, and one-man mastermind behind a project that would normally take an entire crew to produce, is on the verge of making his mark on one the most recognized, and influential genres of music, Hip-Hop. Demarco, born in Brooklyn and raised in Far Rockaway, Queens, began his musical education as an emcee/songwriter. He quickly gained a passion for production and immediately taught himself how to play the piano, advancing to the arrangements of his own tracks and later playing bass and electric guitar. During the early stages of his development he absorbed a plethora of music and sounds from multiple styles creating a compilation of influences for him to draw from. From credible hip hop legends such as Nas, Jay-Z, and Dr Dre, To the legendary rock guitar prowess of Jimi Hendrix, and rock bands such as Metallica, and the black keys. His influences, coupled with His personal approach to music theory, composition producing, and arranging motivated him to develop his own style of Hip-Hop. As ambitious as this was, the production of his first release, Mutiny, (2005) caught the attention of major and independent labels, as well as many fans online. Major labels saw the album as a viable project the market would receive and respond to. However, shortly after the release of Mutiny, management/label issues delayed the progress of the project and it lost momentum. Fortunately, the number of fans continued to increase through online media outlets and soon, Heron found his grass roots following to be bigger than he imagined. So what is it about Heron Demarco that attracts and unites people of different backgrounds and musical preferences? The artistry? The production? To be one man, there are many faces and roles that he takes on to make the music he hears in his head and heart, music that is audible to the world. As an emcee and artist, he has a unique, distinct sound. He’s an artist so much so, that in this stage of his career, he places extreme value and commitment to crafting the exact sound, all on his own. Everything from the beats, to the arrangements, the vocals and lyrics, even the development of his brand and promotions are the results of his hard work. This brings about the producer in Heron. As a producer, the need to be precise and developmental toward his artist-self, takes a true genius craft. 2009 marked the year of reinvention for the growing musician. The group, "Silent Disorder" was birthed, a Rock Hip-Hop band comprised of a drummer, bassist and Heron as the guitarist and keyboardist. Together, they released an EP, Everything Burns, which was entirely produced by Heron. Two particular singles, "Tumbling Down," and "Everything Burns" gained national attention and online radio play. Despite the successes of this EP, the group didn't come without its challenges. Creative differences between the members of the group caused a mutual split. Overall, the experience was a valuable one. This fall, Heron Demarco will release his second album as a soloist, called 777: Demarco the Beast. "I'm excited about this project because I feel my abilities as an artist, producer and musician have come full circle. The vision I had for myself as a kid has come to pass. I feel I’m making some of the most important music of my life. Once again, I've allowed my musical influences to shine through on this project and the sound is much more poised and polished." Music lovers who find themselves inspired by organic, rich and spirited-ness gravitate toward the sound Heron produces. He describes his fans as, "Hipsters and Hip-Hop purists; passionate people who find original music inspiring and won't settle for cookie-cutter music; people who connect with the experience."
