IKING PRODUCTIONS/THA KONGLAMOURIT Iking Productions is a production company that is spear headed by Shellie (King) Johnston. Shellie Johnston was born in Amityville, N.Y. on June 7th,1977. He was raised in South Jamaica Queens by his mother who is also a poet. Eventhough King grew up in a hardened community, He still pushed on and went to college to accept his Associates Degree in Theology. The remnants of his college curriculum comes across in his lyrics. A large percent of his lyrics have Biblical references and undertones. King has been an emcee since the age of eight years old. Hip Hop was instilled in him through his older siblings. Iking Productions released the album “The Black Ice Movement” on Turmic Records in 2006. The album sold roughly 2000 units while the lead single “Black” was considered for a Black History Anthem Push by the world famous DJ’s The Wonder Twins. After moderate success with the “Black Ice” album, King went on to form a promotional company/group called Tha Konglamourit. Tha Konglamourit consists of One Life Game and Iking Productions respectively. One Life Game is operated by Publik. Tha Konglamourit’s focus is to spread awareness and knowledge of self through Hip Hop. A series of mixtapes were released throughout 2008. Critics comforted the material as enlightening. Many say that the material and mental focus of the mixtapes were going to lead Hip Hop in a new direction. Tha Konglamourit Mixtape series is the first mixtape series to hit such a large audience with conscience rap and ideas. Every mixtape song was originally produced by Tha Konglamourit. Iking Productions also sponsored and started college bound programs for inner city youth through N.Y. state senate office for Malcolm Smith.
