Biography

In January of 2008 the members of Intricate Machines converged on an apartment in San Francisco. They cleared the living room, replaced couches with keyboards and tables with amps. In January of 2008 the members of Intricate Machines converged on an apartment in San Francisco. They cleared the living room, replaced couches with keyboards and tables with amps. They brought with them every instrument they owned from sleigh bells to tabla, to synths and an ill-fated flute. This was the beginning of the six months of experimentation, which gave rise to the IM EP. Only six months prior the band recorded their first record, The Whale EP, in a two day frenzy of live, full band takes. Their next release, the Don't Want You Back EP, was a series of home recordings of a single song as interpreted by three of the band members. For their latest record IM sought a new approach. The goal: to deconstruct everything they had established and start fresh. They spent countless hours making sounds, recording melodies, and exchanging influences. Over the next six months these sessions continued and, with the help of producer Aki Ehara, the IM EP began to take shape. The IM EP is available now, and the band is supporting its release with regular tour dates. IM is currently recording a series of eps to be released in late 2008 and early 2009.
