Jacob grew up gleaning life's lessons from his experiences in places as scattered as Orange County, California (long before "the OC"), the deserts of southern Utah , and the Jersey shore, to shorten a long list. At age 18 he became "the" house studio musician for A.P.P.L.E. Productions in Westville NJ , playing all string instruments songwriters/bands requested for the completion of their projects. Most folks, when made aware of his divergent upbringing, think him the child of a military family, but in actual fact, his parents were rather free-roaming hippie-like souls never letting their roots get too deep in any one place. This anti-establishmentarian creative mindset, the music inherently woven into the fabric of that time, and a spiritual metamorphosis in his early 20s, has deeply effected the inclination of his life.
Jacobs' music reflects a broad and rich spectrum of influences but he claims his musical epiphany occurred via The Jimi Hendrix Experience. "When I heard Hendrix I felt as though he was dipping into some deep wellspring of eternity and pulling out a part of myself I never knew existed." From that moment on a deep fiery passion ignited in him and is clearly evident in his music. He has been portrayed as being too jazzy for blues, too bluesy for R&B, and too rocky for country. Truth be told, all of these assessments hold true to one extent or another in his material, which in itself is a tribute to his genuine diversity and talent. He is capable of sheer rip-snortin', soul wrenching old school rock/blues guitar work and vulnerable, ethereal mandolin touches within the same song in a unique cohesive form. His album "West by Southwest" is available for purchase NOW!!!.
