Brothers’ debut recording project, Reflection of You, has enjoyed a great first year of release. In its first six months, “Wonderful” got him to the finals in the International Songwriting Competition 2007.
This past summer, Brothers ventured out to Colorado for the Gospel Music Association’s Music in the Rockies, and “Great is Your Name” landed in the finals for ABS Scripture Song, and “Wonderful” and “I Am Ready” received semi-finalist nods. Jake and his band’s dynamic performance launched them to one of the top three finalist spots, and earned them the right to play live for over a thousand others at the crescendo to the week—the final concert, headlined and emceed by Chris Sligh and Mandisa from American Idol. Jake’s entire album, as well as “Wonderful” made it to the finals for the 2008 Independent Music Awards.
Reflection of You has received positive feedback from those in the industry as well. Former Manager, A&R for EMI CMG Label Group Nate Yetton said “You can tell he’s a gifted songwriter and has a strong voice…you can tell that he is a genuine worshipper. The production, songs and authenticity were solid.”
When he’s not playing shows for Campus Crusade, churches, Christian camps, retreat centers, schools or coffee shops, Brothers’ full-time gig is Worship Director. He has been responding to his call to ministry for over six years at Faith Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. One of Faith’s main focuses is missions, which has allowed Brothers to bring his worship music to half a dozen countries on four continents, including a partnership with groups like SEND International and Malachi Ministries.
“What an awesome blessing and extreme privilege to share my music—my gift, with people all over the world,” Brothers said. His 2009 plans include a summer conference in Ukraine and worship leading in Nicaragua through a partnership with Christian Medical and Dental Association.
A graduate of Anderson University, Brothers studied Music Business while leading worship for Campus Crusade for Christ and Open Door campus ministry. Brothers also traveled the midwest with a student band and sparked his interest in performing. Meanwhile, his passion for the local ministry also grew. After college and getting married, Jake knew the time was right to reach for his dream and record his first album. With the help of his wife, Erin, and Faith Church, his dream to record became a reality.
Reflection of You connects with people of all ages. “Jake has an excellent ability to draw teens and adults into a fun worshipful atmosphere,” says Jason Walsh, Pastor at First Church of God in Indiana. As Jake says in track three, “I am ready to heed your call, when it makes no sense at all. I am ready to speak to the stranger on the street.” He is ready, and wants to share his true desire to worship the living God…with you.
