Jim Shomer; bassist, composer / songwriter. I've worked on various music projects with local musicians in the Phoenix area. I studied music theory and composition at Arizona State University. There I studied and worked with composer / professor Dr. Chinary Ung. And during college I was able to attend the Ernest Bloch Festival with George Crumb, participated at the Arco-Santi Composer Symposium with Terry Riley, and attend workshops with a number a great composers. I have had works performed by the California EAR Unit and the A.S.U. Symphony Orchestra, and have performed selected compositions in the Arizona Composers Forum concert series sponsored by the Arizona Commission for the Arts. Prior to college I was a self taught rock/jazz player that was interested in all kinds of music. I've played very free improvised (out-there stuff) to pop rock, and I love it all.
