Portrait of Jana Anderson

About Jana Anderson

Fridley, MN

I've spent the past 7 years touring and recording all over the world several times with Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks as a backup singer and am on Fleetwood Mac’s “Live in Boston” DVD and Stevie Nicks 2009 release of her “Soundstage” DVD, and also sang on Stevie Nicks’ “Crystal Visions” CD.

In between tour travel, I recorded a current sounding country/rock CD titled “Never Say Never”, which was released to iTunes January 2010. There is a professional video, easily found on You Tube, to go along with the CD for the song “One Way Road.” The CD is full of songs that are singles, not filler music. There is a beautiful duet with Eddie Money on this CD.

I was initially discovered by Prince singing in a Minneapolis nightclub he frequented. I went on to sing for him at Paisley Park for 5 years on many projects. Some of Prince’s releases where you can hear me are on “The Time’s” radio hit “Shake” on the “Graffiti Bridge” soundtrack, and lead vocals on “M.P.L.S.” on “1-800-NEW-FUNK”, where I sang the first and last songs on that CD.

After and during my Prince experiences, I toured as a backup singer with Don Henley for 7 years, including singing background vocals on his “Inside Job” CD on a song titled “Miss Ghost”, where I even shared the microphone with him in the recording studio. I sang with him at Woodstock, Walden Woods, and for President Clinton, in addition to his U.S. tours.

I've also sung with Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, Jewel, Paul Simon, Eddie Money, Chris Isaak, Sheena Easton, Huey Lewis, Peabo Bryson, Bonnie Raitt, Smokey Robinson, Jimmy Buffet, Vanessa Carlton, Kenny G., The Beach Boys, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Ronnie Spector, and Jackson Browne.

I've sung lead vocals for several Minnesota inaugurations, including the opening ceremony at the Target Center for Governor, Jesse Ventura and been the headliner several times for the Paisano Festival in Monterey, CA for several government officials and highly successful businessmen. One of my favorite memories was singing in the opening ceremonies for the Special Olympics, also at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN. I've successfully starred in my own bands which have headlined and sold out the biggest extravaganza’s and charities in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, CA, often being hosted by super stars Michael Douglas, Kirk Douglas, John Cleese, and Dennis Franz. I've been an opening act for several major stars. One of the most recent honors was also being selected to play the Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival by a panel of radio station and record industry executives, where she played songs from her recently completed debut CD “Never Say Never.”

Away from the music business, I'm an avid outdoor sports enthusiast who enjoys hiking, horseback riding, and water and snow skiing. I love animals and had once considered becoming a veterinarian. My hobbies include photography and cooking. I hope to someday release a book of my own recipes.
