Bio
Born in Seattle, WA, Jasmine spent her formative years on the east coast in Northern Virginia. Jasmine grew up in a household where art and literature were highly valued, and creativity encouraged. She began her musical training on the violin at age 9, wrote her first "song" at age 10, and studied music throughout high school and college. With a handful of songs written but unrecorded, Jasmine moved west to California to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter.
Somewhere in Between, Jasmine's debut EP (released independently in 2008), garnered local and national attention and worldwide radio play, with San Diego's North County Times saying "Commerce has a charisma that infuses every note she sings..." Following the release, Jasmine won CBS's Sophie 103.7 FM's Singer/Songwriter Contest, was Acoustic Cafe's "One to Watch" Artist of the Month and was Nine West's Vintage Voices National Songwriting Contest Grand Prize Winner.
Jasmine recorded her original song, "Meant to Be", with Sony/ATV Music Publishing Company in New York City. The song was produced by 2-time Grammy-winner, Michael Mangini (David Byrne, Jonas Brothers, Joss Stone, etc.), and was released on Hickory Records, Sony/ATV's in-house label, distributed through RED Distribution and featured on iTunes in January 2010.
Jasmine currently resides in San Diego, California.
