Jason Chacon is an inventor. An infant. A king. A slave. Masterminding his creations for just over a decade now, he is only in the beginning of what is a new volume in an instinctive, uncharted encyclopedia. In his early plucking days, he did not have any professional training; however, his older brother, Joey Chacon, in Baker City, Oregon, personally instructed him. After learning countless covers, Jason began writing Metallica-influenced-acoustic-jams. Between 2001 and 2003, he had begun songwriting and singing. By mid-2003, he had compiled a handful of novice songs with assistance from a good friend on the drums. In late 2003 Jason moved to Payette, Idaho, where he formed a progressive rock band with his brother Joey and a few good friends. The band, entitled Against All Odds (which later became Severstay), created a progressive variety of musicality from song-to-song. It was a diversity that Jason continues to create to this day. They performed multiple times in Idaho and Oregon and by the end of 2006; Severstay was brought to an end. It was around this time that Jason started to take his solo path seriously. He had already written a few intermediate songs that had become popular in his hometown. He became exceptionally serious about songwriting and began recording his songs with a laptop and few pieces of recording equipment. Most of the songs from this era were acoustically driven and, although savvy, a bit naive, lyrically. He wrote songs such as “Hold on to Now”, “Sometimes”, and “A Kiss Proves More than a Promise”. In 2007, he had earned a local fan base and began performing around Boise, Idaho. After a scattering of performances he began writing and recording in a new manner that consistently added to his diverse inconsistency between songs. It was in this time that he created songs such as “Stay Inside and You'll See What the World Really Is”, “Two Faces on the Wall”, and “Solaris”. These are songs that very much differed from the “acoustic era” of Jason's songwriting, lyrically and audibly. It was the electronic elements that he had begun to incorporate into his songwriting that gave it the contrast from his “acoustic era” songwriting; however, he has never entirely removed the original acoustic element from his songwriting. At the end of 2008 he joined a metal group that would become Wolves of Arcadia and relocated to Boise, Idaho. Wolves of Arcadia was short-lived, but Jason and the drummer (Sam Gates) carried on the concept and in 2009 created progressive, indie, metal band Archaelyda. Archaelyda recently dissolved, but has given Jason much optimism about focusing solely on his solo career. Drummer Sam Gates will continue his duty with Jason Chacon. This is only a beginning to a very dominant and complex musical journey.
