Jeff Saxon is a diversely talented singer/songwriter/guitarist known for his memorable melodies, intelligently crafted lyrics and heartfelt vocals. His compositions have earned him over 30 awards from various national and international songwriting contests and he is a former staff songwriter for the long-standing New York City-based publisher, Bourne Music. While it’s difficult to attach a simple word or phrase to describe Jeff’s sound or songwriting style, one can easily detect its jazz, blues, old-school R&B and country leanings. He’s been compared with such artists as James Taylor, Bill Withers, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Jim Croce, Keb’ Mo’, Phil Vassar and Don Henley. Jeff grew up on the Jersey Shore and recently returned to those roots after spending many years in the Los Angeles area. Some of his L.A. performance highlights included Genghis Cohen, Highland Grounds, Luna Park, The Independence Arts Festival and The Sounds Of The South Bay. Jeff also worked in the studio or shared the stage with well-known artists such as Dave Koz, Norman Brown, Hiroshima, N’Dea Davenport and Little Richard. Jeff’s catalog of over 400 songs and compositions spans virtually every genre, but many of his tunes are amalgams of pop, blues, jazz, R&B, country and rock. Quite a number of Jeff’s songs have appeared in film and TV. One that Jeff is particularly proud of, is the dynamic pop ballad, “Journey Of The Heart” (co-written by Jeanne Smith), which was licensed by the N.C.A.A. (National Collegiate Athletic Association), who deemed it “the official anthem” of their NCAA Hall Of Champions facility in Indianapolis. It is also currently being featured in a video montage highlighting the career of Olympic gold medal soccer champion, Brandi Chastain. Saxon’s music has been getting some exposure outside the United States, too. The Brazilian-influenced Saxon song, “Never Knew Love” (co-written by Carina Norlund), was covered by Larry, a promising new pop-jazz artist from Belgium. The disc, entitled “Just Call Me Larry…” is being distributed by Universal Music Group in Belgium. Jeff has released two CD’s of his original material: “Me, Myself, and I” (acoustic guitar and vocals) and “The Spin” (fully- produced) on his label, Relevant Records. John Braheny, author of the best-selling “The Craft And Business Of Songwriting (Writer’s Digest Books), gives high praise to Jeff’s CD, “The Spin”, calling it “honest, crafty, melodic… the songs are all exceptional…production shines, too…”. Both of Jeff’ CD’s are available to preview and purchase on cdbaby.com and iTunes. Jeff is currently working on his third CD, which is set for release in late 2009.
