JOE GREEN Many artists choose the mixtape route as a platform for exposure before going on to a rapidly rising career. Unfortunately, you rarely find a mixtape artist who can deliver a serving worthy of being put out as an actual album. Along comes Joe Green with Who AM I?, finding him at the peak of his creativity. The underground alums latest offering is the prelude to his highly anticipated album. The Scottdale, Georgia natives’ effort is considered an unearthed gem for trappers in every ghetto as he brings the edge, angst and attitude for the streets to embrace. Just as four-time Super Bowl Champion, Mean Joe Greene would flatten opposing linemen who dared to penetrate the scrimmage line, the rapper bearing the same moniker is delivering lyrical concussions as he ferociously attacks those who are brave enough to step into his cipher. “Anybody can do Crunk by getting on a song and chanting. When you take that song to New York they are listening to it because it’s from the south, he says. When you take my song to New York they are going to listen to it because they hear those lyrics they are used to hearing in New York. I’m bringing lyrical Crunk to the game”, he adds. Mean Joe did not have to find rap because it found him. He was asked to join a group that was in formation, minus one member. His membership made the group a four-man collective but one individual stood out more than the rest. “People were telling me for the longest to go solo. It seems that my talent was recognized early on”, he states. No longer being a part of the group, Joe Green, is ready to take the industry by storm. Green has worked with Manager Stanley Pruitt most of his career. In 2006 Joe Green started his own label, which is formally known as Skreet Money Ent., along with Tyrone Barnett and Chris Arriola. He set the stage with WHO AM I, a collection of 17 energetic tracks with production by famed producer Mixzo (In Da Bottom featuring platinum selling artist JUVINILE) and Hen on the sizzling Baddest Bitch where Joe teams up with legendary rapper Too Short. Green work continues in 2006, with Mr. Pyrex hosted by Greg Street, one of his biggest mixtapes. Featuring songs like “Gone Chop”, ”Get Dat Doe”, “Atlanta Home Boy” , and “Da Bottom feat. Juvenile”, which Green go his first radio play. Two years later in 2008, Green drops Glass House hosted by Dutty Laundry, one of the most popular mixtapes. With collaborations such as, Gucci Mane, Mannish Man, Juvenile, and Zaytoven, Green made hits off of Glass House such as, “Got Damn” and “Grittin my Teeth” (feat. Gucci Mane), “Swagger” (feat. Hogg), Numbers (Produced by Zaytoven), and In the Trap (feat. Skreet Money). As Green continues to please his fans, his most recent mixtape, Married to these Streets hosted by popular DJ Holiday, he made songs such as, “Whole Thang”, “Big Boy”, “Thank my Plug”, and “Holiday”. This upcoming artist, with a large fan base, already has what it takes to become a legend.
