About Johanna And The Dusty Floor
Born in Australia and crisscrossing the globe before ultimately settling down to ivory keys and EST in various parts of New York City, Johanna's voice evokes the confidence of a six AM sun first breaking over a city's most Eastern-resting high rise. Having studied jazz at the Australian Institute of Music for years, her wide-ranging vocals and lush piano arrangements are delivered confidently throughout the entirety of Northern Lights; drifting effortlessly atop scenes dealing with distress, demise, and moderate yet passionate lust. Her sometimes brief, sometimes large allusions to both Kate Bush and St. Vincent were all over 2010's The Forest EP.
Johanna and the Dusty Floor's Northern Lights will blow in hard come summer's start, a stellar breeze of dreamy piano and monumental strings leaving your floor - be it bedroom or dimly-let subterranean club - anything but dusty.
