Josh Cameron has been writing songs since he could sit in front of the record player, and he has been playing the drums and the old acoustic guitar his mother had in the attic since he was just a kid. He’s always been about music. He would play the drums all day and his neighbors, for the most part, wouldn’t mind. Throughout his schooling he was always forming bands with his friends, most of the time teaching them to play, and he was recording songs on tape players before he could read. “I’ve always been groovin’, it all started in my living room.” He recorded and released Ankle Deep just before graduating high school in 2007. “I write about life…the people I know, the people I love sometimes, and all that happens along the way. The songs are about me.” This personal relation to every song earned him a faithful following in Pa and then in NYC. Songs like Smilin’ like We Was and Chase me as I go are hometown favorites that make the request list every time he goes back. Ankle Deep as a whole takes listeners on a ride. They feel the teenage angst of the electric guitar and lyrics of Someday kinda of girl, and then they sit back and hear the mellow echoes of a broken heart as “Maybe We’re all in Love, and Smilin Like We Was play through. Circus in my Head, which has been called the radio single by many, takes that passion even further with it’s picturesque lyrics and melodies. Josh is truly a “rebel in blue.” As they listen on, audiences are laughing and singing with Chase me as I go, and then they keep that smile through the firry acoustics and vocals of Hundred Skies. “Hundred skies is kind of the no matter what you say, its gonna be alright for me song of the cd. I think it needed that.” They’re left feeling beautiful. -Sammy G
