Born and raised in Lawrence Ma, “Just AzIz” Shares the same common experiences and hardships that effect and shape the majority of us, yet he has still managed to retain a voice of his own. Ask him and he’ll simply say “I view life through different shades of this wine glass”. It was obvious early on that there was a lot going on in such a young mind. Shy And Introverted by nature Just Aziz found refuge in the written word and became a veracious reader. By Age 10 he had already read the majority of works By, Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, Langston Hughes, and Plato. As well as every Black Stallion Book the local library provided. He found himself in awe of such patterned speech, the pronunciation of the words, and the way they intricately twisted and connected. And naturally began to delve into the recesses of his own mind through short stories and poetry. Though his heart was instantly drawn to the patterned speech he soon found a combination that would overwhelm it, the application of patterned speech to music. He had found his love, but artistically was yet to find his muse. For him music was the expression of the souls self and in whatever form it materialized, he recognized its beauty. Just AzIz is what some would call a musical purist, interested only in its artistry, a stance not often supported in the music industry and for that matter in hip hop. Mainstream music is more so driven by image and sales than by its true artistical expression. Being the uncommon is no rarity for Just AzIz he has always found himself at odds with the masses, always walking that fine line between his environment and his enlightenment. As he always says “Had it not been for life I’d be just like you”.
