At twenty-one years old, songwriter Justin Kopec has accomplished more than he could ever have hoped to. Justin’s passion for music was sparked at a young age. He began studying piano at the age of seven and always enjoyed belting out familiar tunes on the radio since he could speak. In his early teen years, Justin began to compose his own music and lyrics. Since then he has poured out a variety of insightful songs, each meant to convey a message, feeling or experience. Some of Justin’s strongest influences are Vanessa Carlton, Imogen Heap, Missy Higgins, Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves, The Fray, David Archuleta, Sara Bareilles, and Gavin Mikhail. In April 2008, Justin released his debut album, “Becoming,” which he produced with Center Street Sound. The album is a portrayal of the struggles that young people as well as adults face in life, and is a great depiction of the start of Justin’s musical career. Songs off the album have already generated success; some have been featured in the 2009 film, “When North Winds Blow,” and the most popular song, “More Than Love,” has received continuous radio play and was the winning song in the WRCH “Idol for a Song” contest, allowing Justin to travel to Disney World to compete in the American Idol Experience. Justin’s passion for music coupled with his desire to connect with others has led him to the path he is on today. He is currently studying psychology and music at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell and hopes to later continue his studies in the music therapy field.
