I'm self taught on guitar and vocals. I have my own style and can bring some soul to the table. A long time ago, after Vietnam and riding around in helicopters, at tree top level, in the war that wasn't a war... or was it a war that was kind of a war. Confusing because no one knew exactly what the hell was going on, especially the Democrats who got us into it and then the Republicans who managed to lengthen it. Still they all managed to profit from it, but not me. You can call it what you want, but all I know is that people I personally didn't know were trying to kill me. So I did what most people would do. I fought back. Pulled the trigger, but I didn’t inhale. Eventually I caught a ride on the big old Freedom Bird and made it back home to the USA. Stopped in Seattle and still remember the two airline stewardesses at the airport who stared at me with ugly looks, and before getting into their taxi, flipped me off. Must have been the uniform I was wearing. Went home to Indiana. Partied a lot. Punched a clock. Worked in the trailer factories and did some carpentry work. How boring it was! At times I would remember the war that wasn't. I used to be able to write pretty good with an M-60 machine gun. I could spell my name with the tracers guiding my aim. It was cursive too. Problem was, there wasn't much of a call for a Helicopter Door Gunner so I figured it was time to put my M-60 Machine Gun skills to use with a pen and a guitar. I hit the road. Took my load on down the way to see what I could see. After all, I'd just fought for this particular freedom and needed answers for those eight friends of mine who failed to return from the war that wasn't a war. I hitch hiked across the good old USA. Taking notes and meeting incredible folks and playing music along the way. I ended up in Colorado and put together a couple of bands. We were named Gangster. I guess we were ahead of the times since gangsters are pretty common nowadays. LOL. Before I knew what hit me life became what it became. I eventually stopped performing professionally. However I never gave up the writing, or guitar playing. Instead I spent most of my life making films and videos for the corporate world. Maybe I sold out. But I was always independent and on my own, except for a five year sentence of "hard time" at a Denver television station. It’s that corporate politico game I could never play. I was too damn honest and spoke my mind. That doesn’t work around structured politics and the silly games and rules. Now, so many years later... nothing has really changed. The world's still a crazy circle in the fringes of the universe and it seems we human beings keep making the same mistakes. And except for a few very close friends, most people have faded away from memory. Personally my life is very simple. I'm trying to pay my debts. Raise a family and play the games. My way. I don't fear God. I love God. No one's trying to be a star here. I'm just letting people listen to my side of life. Some will like it, and others won't. My escape is writing words and making a story come to life. A freedom I so love and one that I would die for. I hope you enjoy the words and melodies. Maybe one day we could get together, and jam and write a song or two. Justlee
