This Saint Louis native and amazing songwriter is constructing a saucy album set to entice the young and the refined ear. > > Born in Saint Louis, MO, Jzanell is the younger of 2 sisters. At the ripe age of 8 Jzanell impressed audiences with her talents by appearing in local talent shows. It was then that she fell in love with the stage. While attending Ritenour High School she was the lead soloist in the choir, wrote and performed in the school play “The Millionaire”, and placed first in school talent shows. At the age of 16, Jzanell and her sisters formed a group called Black Ice. However, her sisters realized that this was Jzanell’s dream. They agreed that it was best for her to journey alone. > > It wasn’t much later that local music execs began to admire the enticing vocals. Jzanell believed this was it! This is the beginning of discovery, she thought. She sat down with Clifton “Q” Wade III and Tony Banks of Spin City Records, and began crafting lyrics and creating her music story. During this time released the single “Don’t Be Skurd”. The local and national airplay was astonishing and explosive. It was like something she had never seen before. Finally she realized fairy tales and dreams really do come true. The vision was beginning to manifest. She was the opening act for mega superstars Nelly, TI, Kanye West, and Mary J. Blige. She was performing under the city lights in Las Vegas, Chicago, and Miami. “This must be it,” she believed. Then tragedy struck and it seemed all her dreams were shattered and displaced. The label she was working with hit a snag and collapsed. Along with the demise of the label was the life of Jzanell’s career. > > “Where do I go from here?” she wondered. Back on the grind and the hustle, because she knew she couldn’t stop. She has a voice and seeks to be heard. After much frustration and failed attempts to be signed to a record deal, Jzanell has taken her destiny into her own hands. Over the course of 7 months she has been writing her new album, influenced by musical pioneers Sade, Aaliyah, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. Jzanelle has a divine sound that appeals to fans of all ages.
