When listening to Kayenne’s sound, you can expect to hear a mixture of alternative, soul, and hip-hop. She was born in Baton Rouge Louisiana, and developed musical interests ranging from several artists such as Bjork, Radiohead, Sade, and Terrence Trent D'arby, to The Winans, Betty Wright, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, Bobby Womack, Aretha Franklin, , Portishead,....and the list goes on. Kayenne, being musically inclined as a youth with additional training, her understanding of harmonies, scales and music composition rings true throughout her music. She sings with an emotion that makes her lyrics real, and with a sassines that proves witness to a life of experiences. She tells her stories as if she’s reading your mind and expresses her thoughts to the audience in colorful imagery and conviction. This best kept secret has been a long time coming, bringing a vocal tone that is sultry and hot, with a personality and edge that is sure to be spicy! Kayenne decided to pursue writing and recording and relocating to Atlanta five years ago. She made her way to Crossover Studios and became the front girl in the cover band, Culture Soul. When traveling up and down the east coast and southern region. She performed the college circuit, gaining live band experience which proves strong in her live performances today. Kayenne then learned of Hendu Entertainment, owned by Allan Henderson of the Atlanta Hawks, where she presented herself as a writer. Through her persistence, she built a working relationship with producer Isaac “Ike Dirty” Hayes III. She then met producer, Armando Colone who has produced for Shaggy, Mariah Carey, B2K, Busta Rhymes, and many others. Kayenne was later introduce to artist like, Bone Crusher, Jimmy Swagger, and Bobby Creekwater through a long time friend David Banner. This provided Kayenne with the opportunity to do vocals on hooks, background, and write for up and coming artist. She has also collaborated in writing sessions with Bobby Valentino, Gypsy Stokes, and others, and has opened for recording artist, Lloyd. Kayenne has established her publishing company, Nside the Lines Productions LLC, since 2003, and has been an ASCAP member for 4 years. She presently performs with her own band called Kayenne Live and has hosted a talent showcase called Independent Music Review’s Starving Artist Showcase. Upon becoming a member of the Blackplanet.com family, within three days Kayenne was featured in the artist spotlight, then again three weeks later. As a result, she is Blackplanet.com’s member chosed for the month of June to be featured in VIBE magazine this year. She is also in the running for the Member of Choice Award sponsored by Heineken Premium Ultra Light, to be in VIBE magazine again in September. Kayenne has proven to have longevity as a self-contained artist that is creative, multitalented, and ready to reinvent herself in staying abreast of today’s music and personal style. She has certainly made headway in making a name and creating a unique sound for herself all through sheer determination and talent.
