Kid Theodore is: Ryan Darton Cole Barnson Brandon McBride Gardner Stevenett Independent of a record label, Kid Theodore has managed to play major festivals and concerts including 2008 & 2009 Sundance Film Festival, NYC's CMJ Festival, The Joint (Hard Rock Cafe, Las Vegas), X96’s Big Ass show. They have appeared in SPIN magazine and have had many news and radio appearances including KEXP Seattle. Kid Theodore was chosen by Billboard and TAXI as the number one independent band in the western US in 2008. Kid Theodore has also been able to share the stage with great artists like Snow Patrol, Ben Kweller, Voxtrot, Why?, Sea Wolf, St. Vincent, Dan Deacon, Ladybug Transistor, Ghostland Observatory, Zoe, Babasonicos and many other artists. All of these accomplishments have been achieved through old-fashioned DIY passion and hard work. Kid Theodore hit the ground running from the start of their career, playing their first show in February of 2005 at a college sponsored battle of bands in Provo, Utah playing for over 3,000 new listeners. They immediately started touring extensively through the western U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Their debut 7 song ep "goodnight...goodnight" was released one year later in February 2006 and received positive reviews from numerous magazines and blog-sites. Their second album/first full length "Hello Rainey" was released on June 8th of 2007 to a sold out crowd in Salt Lake City and soon after received praise from City Weekly for both it's sound and layout. Hello Rainey won City Weekly's 2007 Artys award for best album art/packaging and was reviewed as “one of the most cohesive and organic albums in recent memory.” - City Weekly Tour highlights include (but are not limited to) playing with bands such as Voxtrot, Why?, Snow Patrol, Ben Kweller, St. Vincent, Dan Deacon, Ladybug Transistor, Ghostland Observatory, Zoe, Babasonicos, Arizona and many other great artists. See Show History for nearly every show that Kid T has played. Kid Theodore's eclectic sound and high-energy show captures the attention of all generations and crowds. Focusing on mix-tape/no-genre song writing Kid Theodore seems to have music that appeals to nearly every ear. They pull from a lot of classic rock, indie rock, latin-jazz, folk and hip hop. This makes for a tossed genre of good listening. Their style has earned them comparisons ranging from The Doors to Spoon to Coldwar Kids. "It's really hard not to like Kid Theodore. Their sweet and infectious brand of Indie-pop has landed them innumerable shows at Kilby Court, granted them a spot at X96's 4-Play concert series last summer and even taken them through Mexico and Canada." - Slug Magazine "With the members of Kid Theodore jumping from one instrument to another as various band members throw instruments behind their heads and bang kitchen supplies with unmatched fervor, a Kid Theodore show can't be missed. Due to their dedication to their fans and their music, they're likely to impress you no matter what kind of music you're into." - Slug Magazine “You might find yourself comparing them favorably to Cold War Kids. Major props to these guys.” - KEXP, Seattle "Poppy hooks with jangly piano/organ with guitar parts that merge to form alternative rock with gorgeous roots." - Smother Magazine "[Kid Theodore] sounds like Britt Daniels fronting Wilco playing Belle and Sebastian or something. I don't know it's ridiculously amazing..." - Dreams of Horses "With influences spanning jazz, folk, rockabilly and indie rock, Kid Theodore plays dynamic music with quality song-writing." - Slug Magazine "Kid Theodore's intricate-but-accessible blend of experimental folk-rock jazz is a good example of what happens when you try to do a little with a lot" - Spokane 7 “Kid Theodore always gets the crowd hand-clapping, toe-tapping, and dancing to the beat.” - Spokane 7 "The set was energetic yet laid back, experimental yet familiar and filled with tons of percussive elements. The band played very tight, the sound was well balanced and getting into these guys was easy." - Daily Eargasm "Their new album Hello Rainey never settles into a comfort zone but rather takes risks, sometimes exchanging pop for cabaret or jazz for straight-up rock..." - Salt Lake City Weekly “Kid Theodore creates one of the most cohesive and organic albums in recent Memory.” - Salt Lake City Weekly Nav top Home News Shows Bio Gardner Cole Ryan Brandon Albums Shop Media Links Share Contact Email List Nav bottom ©Copyright 2005-2009 KidTheodore.com All rights reserved.
