Portrait of Kim D and The Killer Bees

Kim D and The Killer Bees

About Kim D and The Killer Bees

Los Angeles, CA

There's a buzz around the Hollywood Sign, or at least just below it. “Kim D. and The Killer Bees” are a perfect example of what happens when artists, actors, musicians and techies, in tinsel town collaborate. The result is a very “now” slice of the Hollywood experience.

Bluesy Hollywood? Ultra modern rock pop? Old time swing, jazz perhaps? All of these styles contribute to their sound.

Kim D. has a strong, sultry voice. Her clever lyrics stir up feelings of lost loves by way of a warrior’s stance. It’s as if “The Pretenders” met “Cab Calloway”.

Deliberate pop songs with catchy hooks and melodies supported by a modern rock vibe. Old time jazz and blues from the 20’s and 30’s. Bobby Empire’s guitars emotionally charge the atmosphere. Crazy Uncle Boston’s funk and honky tonk piano bring Tom Waits and Dr. John to mind. Fred McCullough's punk inspired drums add a tough rock element. And, while all of this is happening , the Back up Bees, Jessika Rowe and Amber Wilson lift each syllable with their soulful angelic voices.
Their show transports you back in time, when Hollywood was roaring, speakeasies were all the rage, and people liberated their savage selves.
You want Hollywood? Right here, mama!
You want some Honey baby? They’ve got it!
