On the Paradise Island of St. Ann, Jamaica, where the sound of musical rhythms are always playing on every street corner, comes the vibrant pulsating Reggae music of Black Uhuru , Bob Marley and the Wailers, Steel Pulse, Sean Paul and now King Hopeton an aspiring icon for the people of the WORLD . Horace Campbell (King Hopeton) was born in a very humble environment on the 25th of March with the manifestations of God in him and the love for music remaining constant in his life. In his early childhood, he would spend time in the church playing the drums and organ, and singing. Additionally, he played a wide array of other musical instruments, which he played with great detail and commitment. He also played at weddings and funerals--even at his own High School graduation. King Hopeton knew what he wanted and was willing to make the necessary sacrifices in keeping with his belief, while focusing on the music and entertainment industry. He grew up in the early days of music when the digital era was not prevalent. His first instruments were glasses filled with water, which he would carefully measure and make sure it had the right notes. There and then he would play his glass music all day and night until one would break due to his over zealousness. King Hopeton garnered a wealth of knowledge and experience in Jamaica playing at local sessions, weddings, and numerous functions before the age of 16. He is well versed in not only the artistry of Reggae, but also in Jazz, R&B, Mento, Alternative and Classical Music. He has played with various musicians and international talents , such as , Jeffery Osborne, Shai, Dennis Brown, Justin Hinds , United Force and Rapture, just to name a few. King Hopeton, in his uniqueness, has worked with and been influenced by top producers in Jamaica, Steelie and Cleevie, Sly and Robbie, Steven Stanley and Hart Richards. This lead to the start and development of his independent label, Doublelion Records, for which he has played on and produced tracks for artists such as: Black Uhuru, Beenie Man, Sizzla, Capleton, Shaggy, X-Sample, Feyvva, Little Hero, Teflon, Contractor, etc. King Hopeton was recently credited by Billboard for producing 12 of 15 rhythm tracks and the number one reggae album on the Billboard chart in January of 2009, of which three songs were number one in America, the Caribbean and Europe (Album: Revelation; Artist, Lil’ Hero; DoubleLion Studio.) He joined the United Force Band in 1990, founded by Hart Richards, Manager and Pioneer in Jamaica, in which they received five consecutive awards by the Jamaica Federation of Musicians for Best Show band. He has several singles, such as: “King Of Kings, Hard Times, My Destiny, Can You See The Light”, currently being aired across Radio Jamaica, Irie FM, Zip FM, and 100.3 The Beat FM in California, as well as being aired in other international countries. Additionally, King has made several guest appearances on TVJ’s Smile Jamaica, CVM’s Good Morning, Reggae Sun and Bout Ya TV, Sacramento Carib TV and Sting 2008 Jamaica. The long standing success of King Hopeton is based on his “unconditional love for the music, as a passage way for the healing of the mind & soul, while expecting only the best for his family, friends and himself. “ King's commitment to excellence delegates him to the realm of an extraordinary musician. King is inspired by the profound teachings of King David and King Solomon; as such, he has written and recorded over 20 albums, with his first released Album, “King of Kings” launched in Sacramento, California 2008. King also supports the Make a Wish Foundation. King believes that his responsibility lies in being available to people of every nation color or creed whenever the need arises for his support, and most importantly: “sharing his knowledge and devotion to this cause (music), with a high level of consciousness; the need of humanity endorses him as one of God’s greatest creations. The sound and vibration of my voice and soul are here to transform the music industry and revolutionize the world for the better of you and I.’’ King's guidance and future is in God’s hand.
