King Swayd was born in Rochester, NY as Clinton Bailey. He comes from a musical background, growing up around music from a very early age. His mother was a singer, even earning a music scholarship for her vocal abilities. Because of his mother's love for music, he was constantly exposed to classic R&B sounds of artists such as Anita Baker, Keith Sweat, and similar artists, and likewise developed a love and passion for music as well. He moved to Columbus, OH with his family when he was two years old, and returned to Rochester at the age of 14. Upon returning to Rochester, He began singing at night clubs, parties, and talent showcases and recorded his first song using a tape recorder while still in high school. Soon after, he started to record songs at professional studios, often co-writing and producing the songs recorded. But the streets of Rochester made it difficult for him to focus all his energy on music. At the age of 17, he had a baby, which to most teenagers would be a burden but for him it turned out to be a blessing. Having a child forced him to stop hustling, get out of the streets, and take a more serious, objective look at his life and where he was heading. Ready to make a change, He moved back to Columbus in 2001 and pursued his music career further. He continued to sing at parties and recorded several more songs. Though taking some singing lessons, he mostly self taught himself through books, tapes, TV programs, etc, to mold his voice into the controlled, sultry, powerful one it is today. He put music on hold for awhile to pursue his martial arts career, but never completely abandoned it. Earlier this year he returned to the studio and recorded three songs, "Blowin Da Game Up," "Private Bar," and "Gotta Luv'a," all very different in style. King Swayd's passion for life and artistry is apparent in his music as can be seen in his repertoire of songs. His lyrics are often inspired by his life, evidence of this showing in "Blowing the Game Up," which showcases his more edgy side, drawn from his life in the streets of Rochester. He has overcome many obstacles in his life but through it all he has always stayed "true to the game," as the song references. King Swayd has been influenced by various artists of Hip-Hop and R&B including Musiq Soulchild, Brian Mcknight, Genuwine, Boyz II Men, Usher and 50-Cent. His own personal style can be defined as 'classy street', mixing both elements of Hip-Hop and R&B to create a unique sound all its own. From the hard-hitting, "buck" sound of "Blowin the Game Up," to the spine-tingling harmonies of "Private Bar," he truly shows his versatility as an artist........... Written by L. Rodgers
