The Kurt Wielkens Band started as the creative outlet for singer/songwriter Kurt Wielkens, who during the early to late '90s was the leader and principal songwriter for the hugely popular Southeast band Haere Marue. In 2009, with a large backlog of songs, Kurt decided to take to the studio and record all the songs he had been writing in the years since Haere Marue had disbanded. He and former Haere Marue drummer John Milham (Grayson Capps & The Lost Cause Minstrels) put together some sessions at Milhams studio in Laurel, MS and recruited an "A" list team of Mobile musicans such as Chris Spies, Corkey Hughes, Tommy Sciple, and Dave Smithweck to track the album. Fast forward to November 2010 and Kurt has assembled another "A" list of Mobile, AL musicians to form the core of The Kurt Wielkens band that will be performing the record live and recording new material including Dave Smithweck (Haere Marue, Whytribe) on guitar, Johnny Gwin (Formerly with El Cantador) on Bass, Joey Waits (Morris Minor) on drums, and Daniel Nobles (Morris Minor) on keys.
