About kwesi thomas

HIP HOP DEFINES A CULTURE OF ARTISTRY IN ITS PUREST FORM. A LEGEND FOR MOST AND A MYTH FOR SOME, THIS CREATIVE EXPRESSION IS THE OUTLET FOR URBAN COMMUNICATION. AS ARTIST WE HAVE AN OBLIGATIONAL DUTY TO SEND CLEAR MESSAGES WHETHER IT BE FOR THE STREETS OR NOT. THERE IS TWO SIDES TO EVERYTHING, GOOD AND EVIL, THE MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL, THE RIGHT AND WRONG, AND THEN THERE IS "II FACE" WHO BRINGS TO YOU "THE TRANSITION". GUYANESE BORN AND JERSEY BRED THIS 26 YEAR OLD VETERAN HAS MADE SOME CHANGES. LIFE BEGAN AS A STRUGGLE FOR "II FACE" WHO FOUND HIMSELF DRAWN INTO THE STREET LIFE AT AN EARLY AGE. GUNS, DRUGS, MONEY, YOU NAME IT, WAS AN EVERYDAY LIFESTYLE FOR THIS YOUNGSTER. MISGUIDED AND MISUNDERSTOOD "II FACE" WAS LEFT TO BECOME A MAN ON HIS OWN , SURVIVING THROUGH TRAGEDY AND LOSS, LOCK DOWNS AND SETBACKS, AND FINALLY HITTING ROCK BOTTOM. FOR II FACE LOSING WAS NEVER AN OPTION, MAINTAINING HIS LEADERSHIP STATUS AND HUSTLA MENTALITY "II FACE" WAS READY FOR A CHANGE. "THE STREETS WAS TOO RISKY, THERE IS NO END TO IT OTHER THAN JAIL OR DEATH", SAYS "II FACE". LOOKING TO GOD FOR GUIDANCE II FACE TOOK CONTROL OVER HIS DESTINY AND AS FATE WOULD HAVE IT TODAY STANDS A SPIRITUALY CONSCIOUS MAN WHO DECIDED TO DEFINE THE MEANS TO JUSTIFY THE END. II FACE EMBRACES THE STREET FOR WITHOUT A STRUGGLE WHO COULD BE WORTHY OF THE SUCCESS. LYRICALLY "II FACE" BRINGS REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES AND REAL LIFE ISSUES. "WHEN I MADE THIS ALBUM, I MADE IT FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME. I MADE IT FOR EVERYONE. I AM A MAN, A FATHER, A HUSBAND, AND I AM ALSO A HUSTLA. WHEN I SAY HUSTLA I MEAN I MAKE MONEY WITHOUT A 9 TO 5 BUT IT'S LEGAL NOW. I MOVED AWAY FROM THAT ILLEGAL ACTIVITY BUT I STILL KEEP IT STREET. I LEARNED ABOUT RISK AND PROFIT AND ON THE STREETS I MEAN THE RISK IS HIGH AND THE PROFIT IS GOOD, I DECIDED TO TAKE LESS RISK AND MAKE MORE DOUGH, I MEAN YOU GOTTA WORK A LITTLE HARDER BUT THAT IS THE MINOR PRICE TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY SUCCESS LATER." SAYS II FACE. "THE TRANSITION" IS A WELL PUT TOGETHER ALBUM. THIS IS WHAT THE STREETS NEED. "II FACE" TOUCHES THE HEARTS OF MANY WITH "YOUR LOVE", A SONG DEDICATED TO EVERY MAN AND WOMAN WHO NEED THE SUPPORT OF LOVE IN THEIR LIVES. "II FACE KEEPS THE EVOLUTION GOING WITH OTHER SONGS LIKE "THA GAME" WHICH TOUCHES ON THE POLICTIAL SYSTEM AND THE MISEDUCATION OF BLACKS. KEEPING IT GULLY THIS STREET VETERAN COULD NOT COMPLETE HIS ALBUM WITHOUT PAYING RESPECT TO THE THE STREETS THAT BIRTHED HIM, KEEPING IT GRIMEY, WITH SONGS LIKE "FOR MY THUGS, "BAD MAN", AND "NUFF A DEM". "II FACE" IN A STREET DEMEANOR SPITS FIRE TO ATTACK WHEN NECESSARY, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. KEEP YOUR EAR TO THE STREETS, YOUR EYES ON THE SKY ALONG WITH AN OPEN MIND AND YOU CAN REACH NEW HIGHS.
