Kyla Cederwall - (born June 14, 1990) is a Canadian Country/Pop Singer/Songwriter. Kyla was born to sing. She first exhibited her talents in this area when, at the age of two, she sang for almost an entire eight hour road trip. That was just the beginning of her musical journey. By the age of four she was taking piano lessons which would form the foundation of her musical career. She began with Music for Young Children then continued on with the Royal Conservatory program. With some of the basics under her belt she began taking classical vocal training at the age of eight. This training paid off when, an eleven year old Kyla was allowed to sing with her church choir; the youngest person ever to do so. A few short years later she was part of her church’s youth group music team, which allowed her to both sing, and be a role model to young people. She has always had a heart for youth, understanding the pressures of being a teenager and hopes that through her music she can inspire young people everywhere. Kyla is an over-achiever who held down two part time jobs in the retail industry and taught piano from young pre-schoolers to teenagers while attending high school. Despite this, she found time to perform in school musicals and still maintain a social life with the friends she cherishes as well as her family. Somehow through all this she managed to graduate high school a year before her contemporaries and is currently a Business Major in university. As with any journey, there are forks in the road and choices to be made. For a singer like Kyla, one of those choices was in the genre of music she wanted to sing. Her musical influences include Shania Twain, Tim McGraw, Michael Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Justin Timberlake, Celine Dion, Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, Michael Buble, U2, and many others. She tried several different styles from pop to R&B. However, with her wide range of influences she hadn’t found her niche. Kyla began writing music at the age of fourteen. Whenever there was a trying situation in her life she would sit down at the piano and write. Sometimes in the middle of the night, she’d wake up with all the lyrics to a song, which she’d jot down and go back to sleep. When morning came, she would head to the piano and easily find the music to finish the song. Shortly after the end of high school she took a short break from music. After several months of not performing, not teaching, and not taking lessons she became re-energized and focused her talents back into writing music. It was during this time she discovered her love of country music. Although raised in the city of Winnipeg, Kyla’s always had a little bit of country in her spirit. She loves horseback riding, pick up trucks, cowboy boots and especially cowboy hats. Soon, she had more than a dozen songs written, each one becoming more polished than the previous one. However, with each line of lyrics and each measure of music that she wrote her desire to perform again was growing ever stronger. Kyla has now embarked on the next phase of her music career and is currently in the recording studio working with Jason Gordon as her producer/manager at the Juno award winning Studio 11 Entertainment in Winnipeg. Her new single Little Red Chevy was just released. She is also working on finishing her first record called Just Drive. Be sure to watching for upcoming performances.
