About Lady Lash

Melbourne, Australia

There are MC’s, there are singers and then there is Lady Lash… Hailing from a remote town in South Australia called Ceduna, Lady Lash (real name Crystal Mastrosavas) spent her childhood days listening to her mums’ cassette tapes and learning how to sing by emulating what she heard on the radio. “When I was 8 years old my mother entered me into a community talent quest. I had practiced for weeks and was ready to perform when the organizers advised me there was no room for me.” This was the event that sparked Lady Lash’s determination to “make it”. Since moving to Melbourne in 2005 to pursue her musical career she has performed with Ladies Luv Hip Hop and at various Push events. She also participated in the Dig Deep Sound Project with partner and producer Mali aka Skitzo.
MzRizk (Danielle Rizk) began her DJ’ing career in 2003, performing for family and friends at various events. Over the years her repertoire has increased and she is well known for mixing the old with the new and adding pop culture samples into her sets. She has a varied taste in music and knows how to keep people entertained. She was a finalist in the Future DJ Competition in 2003 and has played sets at Push Over, Our Backyard and Bimbo Deluxe. MzRizk sets always take you on a journey and she covers everything from Trip Hop to Jazz to Hip Hop to Electro and Alternative. If want to be educated in music and shake your booty at the same time then MzRizk is the one DJ you want rocking your party.
At Push Over 2007 Lady Lash performed to a backing tape on the Push IT! Hip Hop Arena, this is where she met local DJ MzRizk and asked if she would DJ for her at her upcoming performances. Lady Lash performed music that could be compared to Gangsta Rap; dark lyrics over melodic and haunting beats, which are mostly produced by Skitzo. MzRizk complemented this style by finding samples that reflected the songs themes. They performed Lady Lash’s original material at a number of venues around Melbourne, including Noise Bar and the Art House. After their gig at the Art House, Lady Lash joined the band Funk In Public. They have played at various venues, released an E.P and released a video for their single “Twisted Tales”.
Now in 2008, Lady Lash will be promoting and performing her solo work with DJ MzRizk. Lady Lash has left the Gangsta Rap themes behind and is now focusing on R&B, Soul, Jazz and Funk with a dash of Hip Hop thrown in the mix, which caters for all music lovers.
Lady Lash is ready to showcase her music in preparation for the release of her upcoming E.P...
Their return performance on November 29 at Bar Open supporting NFA, Elf Tranzporter and Pataphysics for the fundraiser “How The West Was Won” received rave reviews from punters and the event organizers. 2009 will definitely be the year of Lady Lash & MzRizk!
