Laura Palumbo – Award-Winning Songwriter… Singer… Performer... Doctor? A true multi-talent, Palumbo is by day Dr. Laura (Veterinarian) but at any other time she continues to master her craft & deep passion for music, studying the Bel Canto singing method and playing the piano, guitar, saxophone and accordion. With style frequently described as edgy and subtly sexy, she is a native of London, ON, born of Italian immigrants. Proud of her Italian heritage, she performs in both English and Italian. A woman of many talents, her debut EP has been racking up the accolades: ■Summer of 2010 Palumbo placed 3rd in Canada in the Virgin Radio FM 99.9 song writing contest ■Winner Best Pop New Music Award of the Year ■FIRST PLACE in the Original Song Category, 2010 CHIN Italian Idol Competition Her debut EP, “What Are You Thirsting For?” features the crowd pleaser “U.R.” (also frequently performed in Italian, “Tu sei il mondo per me”). The song is a melodic gem exploring the deep love and affection of a blossoming romance. Many great talents collaborated on Palumbo’s first project including her musical writing partner Chris Testolini. L.A. Drummer Randy Cooke, who has worked with such icons as Kelly Clarkson, made a potent contribution elevating the power ratio in every song. Guitarist Iain McNally, who has notably worked with Amanda Marshall, provided a unique sound, mixing the tracks with alternate versions. The amazing talent Stu Young, who won a Juno for his work on Prince’s Musicology, gave it that final spark of life through his great producing talents. Throughout her studies in bio medical sciences at Guelph University and all the way through Veterinary college, Palumbo always knew her dream was to be a singer. She continuously pushed while a studying student to further develop her talent, even once auditioning to be a lead singer for a heavy metal band! Now, many moons later, here she is Dr. Laura / Rock-Pop Chick, a unique hybrid for sure.
