Violinist Lori Jean Smith began her musical studies with piano at the age of five and violin at the age of seven under the instruction of her mother, Kathryn Rodgers. Brought up in a strong Christian environment, Lori is thankful to the Lord for both a musical and spiritual heritage. Lori’s musical experiences range from solo performances to praise bands and symphony orchestras, and yet the most important thing in all of it is playing to the glory of God. In the words of J.S. Bach, ‘I play the notes...God makes the music.’ Even in light of a budding musical career, Lori’s greatest treasures in life are her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and her family: husband Tim of nearly sixteen years, and two precious sons, Zachary and Dillon. Lori received degrees from both Cedarville University and the University of Utah. Her orchestral experience includes performances with the Springfield Symphony in Ohio, the Wichita Symphony, the Utah Symphony in Salt Lake City, and several other orchestras throughout Florida. In addition, she has shared the stage with Rosemary Clooney, Joel Grey, Tony Bennett, and Doc Severenson. She has been featured as lead violinist in several Broadway company theatre performances, including The Sound of Music, The Color Purple and The Wizard of Oz, as well as recording soundtracks for other live stage performances. Lori has been featured as a soloist in many venues, as well as duo, and trio groups, performing for such prestigious clients as McDonald's and Walt Disney World. She currently performs extensively and teaches private lessons in the Central Florida area. Recent performances have included a feature in the Singing Christmas Trees of First Baptist of Orlando, and conference speaking/guest artist with Word of Life Bible Conferences in both Schroon Lake and Hudson, Florida locations. 'Memoirs of the Soul,' Lori’s first solo recording, was released in 1999. It features fourteen hymns, including 'It is Well with My Soul,' 'Amazing Grace,' and 'Be Thou My Vision,' arranged for violin and piano. She has been traveling with various recording artists since March of 2005 The second project, entitled 'Sanctuary,' recounts several familiar worship songs such as ‘Indescribable' and 'Agnus Dei,' as well as some well-loved hymns and original songs, all with the beloved celtic flavor.
