About Love and Erosion
Redondo Beach, CA
Neil Penninger and Vivek Khurana believe in the canonical union of melody and lyric; evidence of which is heard in their craft. Upon the backbone of an acoustic guitar and a baby grand piano, the singer-songwriter duo create a storytelling experience through memorable contrapuntal textures. Influenced by the 60's folk-rock balladeers and gaining inspiration from present-day indie masters like Colin Meloy and Conor Oberst, Love and Erosion is a blend of Neil’s formal musical training and Vivek's self-taught, lyrical folk style. The debut LP begins with a fervent, driving rhythm and journeys through penetrating, bluesy grooves, sincere pop-rock anthems, and contemplative, heartfelt ballads. Considering themselves composers/songwriters rather than a band per se, they infuse each of their songs with a different musical palette, dictated by the emotion of the lyric rather than any set instrumentation.
