Maggie is the first female principle banjo player to graduate from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music with an emphasis on songwriting and performing. Maggie is the first female principle banjo player to graduate from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music with an emphasis on songwriting and performing. A Nova Scotia native, now residing in Boston, Maggie fuses her maritime influences with blues, rock, and traditional bluegrass. She has released a short EP produced by Special Consensus’ Ryan Roberts and is currently recording a full-length solo album of original songs featuring Ron Stewart, Steve Thomas, Shad Cobb, and David Thomas. Maggie has won the following achievement scholarships: The Caouette Music Scholarship 2009 Scholarship to Pete Wernick’s Advanced Banjo Camp 2010 Maggie’s current musical focus is with Chasing Blue, a Boston-based bluegrass band founded in the fall of 2008 with other Berklee students. Chasing Blue has toured extensively throughout the North East, Atlantic Canada and Austin, Texas. Maggie manages, books and plays banjo for the band. Chasing Blue has been featured on Austin’s FOX TV News and KUT Folkways Radio. They have also won the following awards: Second Place at the 2010 Podunk Band Competition First Place in Country Videos, July 2010, OURSTAGE.COM Best of 100 Award in Country Videos, 2010, OURSTAGE.COM Maggie is also the manager and banjo player for the Golden Band Wedding Band, a bluegrass, country, and swing band that plays for private parties, weddings and community events throughout New England.
