Marianne D'Elia is a Winnipeg singer/songwriter whose passion for music began at a very early age. As a child, Marianne always knew she could sing. However, life took her down a different path before she began to seriously pursue a career in music. This did not happen until later on, as an adult.
In 2004, Marianne began doing some studio work. In 2005, she began writing original material as well as performing.
Over the last few years, Marianne's unique voice has caught the attention of many audiences. Marianne has performed at various events throughout Winnipeg, entertaining corporate clients such as the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Peter Nygard. Marianne has also provided live musical entertainment for corporate client, Paterson Global Foods, for their 100th Anniversary tour which took her and her band to Alberta, Saskatchewan and rural Manitoba.
Marianne has performed at weddings (both ceremonies and dinner/dance receptions) along with various other private functions. Marianne has also been asked to sing the national anthems at Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball games. In addition, Marianne has appeared on Citi TV's Breakfast Television numerous times.
Working with some of Winnipeg’s finest musicians, Marianne performs many different genres of music including pop, jazz, disco, rock and country. Marianne has also competed in some very worthwhile competitions. One of Marianne's biggest accomplishments to date has been winning the 99.1 Groove FM "Project Cool 2006" contest. As a winner, Marianne was awarded $25,000.00 to assist in the funding for recording, production and release of an original CD.
Since that contest win, Marianne has worked hard at developing her songs for her debut album, Stay Another Night. The album features a well-rounded collection of 12 original songs; all of which Marianne co-wrote. Her music falls into the category of adult contemporary laced with pop, jazz, Latin, and even some country influences.
Stay Another Night was released in Winnipeg on November 28, 2007. On January 29, 2008, the album was released across Canada.
So far, the album has been very well-received:
The title track, “Stay Another Night”, is receiving radio play on radio stations across Canada. Another song from the album, "Found My Way", is receiving radio play on 99.1 Groove FM in Winnipeg. A third song, “Just Another Day”, is in rotation on Winnipeg’s 102.3 Clear FM “Clear Sunday Brunch” program.
Stay Another Night has received very positive reviews in local newspapers as well. The Winnipeg Free Press rated Stay Another Night 4 out of 5 stars, calling it “A smooth adult-contemporary confection, full of D’Elia’s smooth, lilting vocals that are at times a jazzier equivalent to Shania Twain. It’s obvious after only a few listens that D’Elia was the right choice, and it’s refreshing to hear a local talent that has both the vocal and songwriting chops to, hopefully, take her to the next level.”
The Winnipeg Sun has referred to Marianne's songs as "Adult-pop ballads flecked with dashes of jazz, blues, soul and roots -- impeccably crafted to showcase D'Elia's rich pipes and budding songcraft."
Uptown Magazine called Stay Another Night, "A polished full-length debut; a lively collection of Latin-infused, jazz-pop numbers that nicely showcase D'Elia's smooth vocals. Stay Another Night is a well-crafted contemporary jazz record."
