Mark Alan Barnhill has music in his bones and throughout the years has played in several successful bands and opened for major artists such as Louisiana's LeRoux, Survivor, Jefferson Starship, and .38 Special. Growing up in West Kentucky, music was constantly playing in the family home. As a child he remembered watching Elvis movies and dreaming of becoming a famous singer. Being surrounded by music influenced him to pick up the guitar and eventually pave his own way into the music industry. Barnhill got his first guitar at the age of 13 and could be found in his room literally practicing ‘til his fingers bled. At 15 he was out seeing shows and meeting other musicians, one whom he labels a mentor and credits with teaching him how to play. Once he honed his playing skills he was out playing with bands and says, “I realized I never wanted to do anything else. I just loved to play.” He has a vast array of musical influences ranging from Buck Owens, Restless Heart, and Little River Band to Three Dog Night, Grand Funk Railroad, The James Gang, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. His fervor for various genres gave him experience across the board and he began playing with many bands over the years, which lead to co-founding the band Whitehorse with his childhood mentor. In 1990 he parted ways with Nashville and headed back to Kentucky forming an acoustic cover band, Yancy, Barnhill and Dunkerson. In 1994 Yancy and Barnhill appeared as a duo on Charlie Daniels Talent Roundup show on CMT. In the mid 1990s he opened “Mark Barnhill's Country Music Theater" in Benton, KY. It featured family oriented music with shows every Saturday. It was a short-lived project but something he loved being a part of. In 1995 he returned to Nashville and revisited the music scene. In 2005 he played with a cover rock band for about a year before accompanying country artist Daniel Smith on guitar and background vocals from 2006 until 2008. Mark is currently concentrating on his solo career and songwriting. He is no stranger to the music Industry and he is turning his childhood dreams into a reality.
