"Fake Love" is a reflection on my recent past experience with an overview as to why would I subject myself to "Fake Love"! "Fake Love" is a reflection on my recent past experience with an overview as to why would I subject myself to "Fake Love"! Songwriting is more than an ability...whatever I write for the public must always be accepted by the creator. You'll see/hear this even when speaking of the harshness or unclean truth. In every song I put forth a concern for my listeners that all ages can respect &/or be enlightened by. Over the past few years I've been writing from my collection of life. Born in New Jersey & currently residing in Ohio. The opposites of the these two states alone gives me a perspective of the fast-pace city to the fast-pace country ways of living...& of course the people I've encountered are all apart of me...of the world. I'm currently focused on my musical purpose...& would LOVE to write lyrics for other singers! My Demo is 2 songs closer to being ready. Humbly speaking I have a sensitivity to write a song that conveys another persons heart. I've been put to the test! Singing...is something I'm just blossoming at...shyed away because so many African-American female singers were from your Church choir wailers & I felt..."well hey I'll write for them!" But I'm realizing that my voice is being appreciated & I'm becoming more confident in sharing it! Currently I sing lead for an Electronica band...its pretty much a delight & a unique opportunity to be the only woman & African-American in the group. We constantly challenge each other to see our learnt perceptions of race & reach to know better than whats been taught. After releasing our 1st LP this fall/winter 2010 we will decide if we should change direction or continue on. My musical preference varies from R&B old-school Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder...to Bob Marley...to Mary J Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Beyonce "love her"...to The Doors...& to different Electronica artists...being from NJ its an easy transition from House music! Sincerely Thank You; for this opportunity! Marlisha
