Matthew is a singer-songwriter born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His formative years were spent in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on the punk rock scene. At aged 14 his band, The Abusers, opened for Black Flag at Finder's on the Beach in Hallandale, FL. The Abusers would later become Rock City Angels.

Matthew moved to Tallahassee, FL. and studied Theater at FSU. His college band, Zombie Birdhouse, is widely known and toured extensively in the late 80s and early 90s, including opening for Cheap Trick. Following Zombie Birdhouse Matthew continued his solo career and formed the band Buckshot Jones. They toured throughout Florida and Georgia. All the while his solo performances and repertoire flourished and he continues to write and perform.
