He bounced from school to school and sometimes state to state as if he was on the run something he did not understand at the time but just know it was something that had to be done.Upon graduation He did not have many choices so he joined the armed forces in hopes for a better life and a secure future.It was the year 2002 and He was honorably discharged from the military with a lot of discipline and new outlook on life he had to make a decision that will change his life forever he had to start a career in something to secure his future.Always being a fan and finding peace in music Duane than had a dream of becoming a Rapper but he never really liked the whole idea of today's rapper and the image that perceived them.In 2003 he was introduced to Lex-D by a friend.He went to a studio in which he likes to call "Studio 5607" not prepared to do anything just look around while his friend handled some producer business he was asked by Lex if he could rap but it was not a yes or no answer he wanted, He wanted a demonstration well after displaying his talent Lex than told Duane to keep with it and not bad at all for a beginner, He did just that a little freestyle here and there amongst friends than one night Duane's dream started to become a reality. 2004 Duane moved out to Sacramento,CA to be close to his mother and to enroll in college and start a new life that is when it happened He saved enough money to buy his first recording studio.So where to start next he thought, Your only as good as your name he thought so remembering a cousin of a friend he once served in the military with he selected the name Mecca.He than gave it his own twists see the cousin was fearless, ruthless just one dude that he admired because even though he was as what most would call a "Thug" through Duane eyes he was a human being who had the heart the brains and courage to stand up for what he believed in even if it was wrong it was right by him.At this point in Duane's life he was also building his faith back up and giving a relationship with his father another shot.No not the one who donated sperm to his mom but his heavenly father "GOD".They say he loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten son and whom so ever believed in him should have ever lasting life. So Duane thought Man.Even.Christ.Could.Admire a person that despite his faults and short comings Christ still admired his character. All it required was faith and the will to want to do better because it was the right thing to do,This name would be a perfect fit for his image and what he wanted to live his life for.M.E.C.C.A has been through a lot and has seen many places and faces and everyday works on being The Man-Him-Self.He Raps with a sense of knowledge that teaches and does not glamorize the negativity but shines light on the positive.He has come a long way and has so farther to go but one day at a time is the motto, Keeping God first and never forgetting the road traveled to get here.If you ask M.E.C.C.A what he would want out of his career the answer would be simple."I would just want to reach the ears of those who are in need of a positive message those who would rather hear something real and gain something from just listening to a song".M.E.C.C.A can agree that his name may give mix messages and that people are quick to associate him with being a Christian but one day that will be a reality but now he is just a Man walking his path towards righteousness and hopes that you will join him in his efforts to teach,heal and help those in need through the power of music.So Ladies And Gentlemen Boys And Girls I would Like to present to you M.E.C.C.A "The Man-Him-Self"
