The Homestead (Pittsburgh, PA) native Ishmael Muhammad aka Mel Jay has been producing heavy bass gothic beats and spitting conscious lyrics in a rapid fire battle like fashion for over two decades. Mel Jay has recorded hundreds of songs whether it be solo or with the group Organiz’d Crhyme made up of childhood friends Dexterity and Force. After going to California and pursuing his music career while graduating from LA Recording Workshop, Organiz’d Crhyme was blessed with the experience to work with a major label (Motown) and platinum producers (Al Eaton, Organ Brothers) on a school mate named Jason’s project that was eventually shelved by Motown. Going through the first hand experience and disappointment with Motown, Organiz’d Crhyme decided if they couldn’t have creative control over their craft they didn’t want to do it and returned home to form their own label Patnaz N Crhyme Productions and recorded the album “Outta Da Basement”. The fourteen cut album, with 12 songs produced by Mel Jay was never released due to the inconsistency in the group. With a catalog of unreleased solo songs already on deck Mel Jay decided to branch out on his own and formed “The label that brings the truth to the youth” Rebelutionary Music. Rebelutionary Music has consistently released music for over four years world wide at www.rebelutionarymusic.com. Niggas Is Broke 2003 Dangerus and Organiz’d Crhyme compilation album, Treason (The Tearrible Is Coming) 2005 Mel Jay, Tearrible (Rhymes From A Grown Man) 2006 Ishmael Muhammad aka Mel Jay’s official solo debut album, That Black Power Sh!t (The Mix Tape) 2007 Ishmael Muhammad aka Mel Jay. His solo debut album Tearrible also debuted in the top 50 Rap and Hip Hop albums on radiodirectx.com. Ishmael Muhammad aka Mel Jay is scheduled to release his sophomore solo effort “Militant (Thinking Men’s Therapy)” laced with familiar producers from earlier Rebelutionary Music projects, such as G Thang Entertainment (Grant Norris), Knights of Tha Pound (K Owe), and himself. Mel Jay also came together with artist turned producer TAT for the title track ‘Militant.’ Staying true to the Organiz’d Crhyme roots “Militant (Thinking Men‘s Therapy)” stays original and brings relevant substance. The first single and video off the album “Hard In The Paint” produced and directed by Mel Jay is burning up YouTube and MySpace as you read this. “I keep relevant substance coming my albums are like chapters against oppression in theses drastic times. While other rappers spit detrimental rhymes about committing crimes against their own kind,” says Ishmael Muhammad aka Mel Jay.
