Sun Ballet, an alternative pop-rock quartet based in Ridgeland, Mississippi, began in its current incarnation in 2012, evolving greatly since it started as an acoustic project for singer Micah Smith. Sun Ballet, an alternative pop-rock quartet based in Ridgeland, Mississippi, began in its current incarnation in 2012, evolving greatly since it started as an acoustic project for singer Micah Smith. The band's sound blends contemporary rock artists like Manchester Orchestra, the hooks and lifting melodies of pop-rock like All Time Low, and the lyrical impact of bands like Say Anything. The members themselves all hail from a variety of bands and musical backgrounds. Drummer Mick Parsons was a founding member of Tooth-and-Nail Records' Jonezetta and toured with Rookie of the Year; bassist Chris Graham played with metal groups Before There Was Rosalyn and Through Fallen Skies; and Alex Ingram founded pop-rock band Fox Chase Drive. Though Smith, the youngest member of the group, has a smaller musical resume, his voice and lyrics help to set Sun Ballet apart from the average pop experience.
