Michael Allan was introduced to music at an early age, emulating the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna and Paula Abdul into a plastic microphone as a child. After singing along to Top 40 hits with his mom in the family sedan, Michael Allan’s grandmother noticed his musical talent. “Oh my god,” she said. “He can really sing for a 5 year old!” Fast forward to high school, where he took voice lessons and received classical training from famed opera singer Brian Schexnayder. By 16 years old, he was singing the National/ Canadian Anthem at a Dallas Stars hockey game. But there is more to Michael Allan than his voice. As an innate dancer, he started learning the choreography in “Backstreet Boys” videos in his spare time. Once a student at the University of North Texas, he joined the college dance team, but left to create his own team that could execute his vision of modern pop-dance with a hip-hop influence. His creation was validated when his dance team was selected as the opening act for Patti Labelle. After college, Michael Allan left Texas for Los Angeles. He teamed up with producer Matt LaFace to create his own tracks. Between live gigs at LA hot spots, Michael Allan teaches hip- hop dance to a growing number of dedicated students.
