Mixed Water concocts an emotion like a strong, elixir to the palate of sound. Immersing the audience, but never drowning the experience. The history of the greats, and the creation of something greater, that is the essence of Mixed Water. While waiting for the band director at Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk VA, Aaron McCoy followed the sound of such an intense melody it enticed him to pick up his saxophone and play. The maestro of that melody was none other than Christopher Evans. But on a chance encounter at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina the music collaboration began under the guidance of Charles Brown. In 2000 Brandi Q. Hancock, a Shaw student who had taken time off to concentrate on her acting career was asked to perform with the choir on one of their tour stops in her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Chris Evans was the student accompanist and the musical marriage began. Chris would then accompany Brandi on several solo opportunities and invited Aaron and the rest of the crew to perform together as one unit at a student fashion show. From there the formal invitation was extended to her by Aaron to join the group which at the time had another name. Around the same time fate would have it that Jonathan a trombone player and Jermone a bass, and tuba player from Williamsburg, VA were neighbors with Aaron McCoy, and with an open invention to a midnight jam session the Randall Twins became official members of the crew. Donald Mitchell who is the cousin of Chris rounded out the group on the trumpet. Donald moved to Minnesota to pursue his Doctorate in Educational Policy and Administration. In his absence a freshman from Atlanta, GA by the name of Andre Bernard joined in the fall of 2006.
