Montana 1948 is an indie rock/alternative outfit straight out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Started in the summer of 2008 by guitarist Dan Prull, bassist Raza Malik, percussionist Charles Maynard, and vocalist Ryan Lafferty, the ambitious group began writing material largely influenced by Mute Math, Kings of Leon, Circa Survive, Radiohead, and Dredg.
The band has been moving forward ever since; writing new material, playing local shows, and traveling in and out of the studio for the latter half of 2008 has kept them all quite busy. Their highly anticipated EP was released in late January, 2009 on iTunes, Amazon Rhapsody, and in shrinkwrap. The band has since been traveling and playing shows across the west coast in famous venues such as the Hotel Utah in San Francisco and the Viper Room in Los Angeles. Regional shows in Portland and Redding have broaden Montana 1948's reach. In addition to performing and touring, Montana 1948 is currently writing additional songs for its full length album - expected to release by the end of summer 2009. Once the new album is finished, MT48 has a West Coast tour planned, beginning on September 25th in Orange County, with stops in places like San Luis Obisbo, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and in San Diego at the Adams Avenue Street Fair, the biggest free music festival in California.
