Nashville produced/Alberta co-produced CD READY FOR June 2010 RELEASE For an industry preview of songs from the new album e mail info@myrolmusic.com and we'll send you the link It all starts, and ends, with the voices. Those who dare to be different are different and MYROL- an Edmonton based mother daughter duo use their music as a challenge to move forward through their original tunes, love-of-lyric, and comfortable harmony. Their music cuts a wide path and crosses over quite comfortably. Any shorthand attempts to classify MYROL, usually describe them as something along the lines of “Americana” or “Roots” or “Alt Country” - none of which are necessarily improper. They were best described at Junofest as “Fusion Country”. They offer a grass roots level music which is considered new and refreshing. But their songs still have a certain hint of comfortable ‘old’ familiarity. They are being played on radio stations all over the world, charting #7 on The New Music Weekly Charts (just one step away from hitting Music Row and Billboard). They’ve toured Europe five times; performed at festivals in Australia and New Zealand; named Billy Block’s ‘Western Beat Magazine’s Group of the Year’ in Nashville. MYROL won 2nd in Billboard’s World Song Contest; won the Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting Competition’s ‘Best Song’ and ‘Runner Up’ for The Best Alberta Song. They’ve played huge stages – one in Lithuania when they were the featured band for 30,000 people & six million TV viewers. They most recently played main stage at The Big Valley Jamboree – Canada’s largest country music festival, The Calgary Folk Festival and The Canadian Country Music Association’s Post Awards Party. MYROL has even performed for royalty – The Prince of Monaco and Prince Edward at the World Games in Edmonton. They are currently distributed by Icon/Fontana North/Universal in Canada and Columbus/Rounder Europe in Europe. More intimate performances include songwriter’s stages with iconic songwriters - Valdy, Colin Linden (of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings/Brother Where Art Thou), Emerson Drive, Brad Johner and Stephen Fearing. MYROL has performed several times in Nashville in the legendary Bluebird Cafe. Co-songwriting credits include works with Fred Eaglesmith, Nashville’s Tim Taylor (penned hits for Jason McCoy, Duanne Steele) and good friend Gord Matthews, who also picks guitar with MYROL on a regular basis (Gord played guitar for Canadian Royalty – Ian Tyson and kd lang for several years). Featuring “THE MIGHTY PEACE” 16TH ANNUAL BILLBOARD WORLD SONGWRITING COMPETITION AMERICANA/FOLK – 2ND Place Award ~ Also won the 2008 CALGARY FOLK FESTIVAL Song Competition BEST SONG and FIRST RUNNER UP for BEST ALBERTA SONG. "Absolutely Brilliant…chills ... chills ! ... Songwriters create and work over hundreds of perfect songs ... and then one day the universal muse delivers such a great one. I think even someone in Austin would understand the fragility of an ice bridge." - Tom Coxworth Folk Routes CKUA Radio
