YO.. Napstar’s ready for the show. Get ready for a saintly performance, because Napstar Saint is serving up so many new sounds that you’re going to need to plug him into your C-Drive so your ears don’t overload. Napstar Saint, a.k.a. Emile Emmanuel Ramsingh, comes to us all the way from Trinidad, which explains why touches of his new poppier songs remain reminiscent of his reggae roots. Then again, one of the best things about Napstar is his ability to mix all kinds of musical influences—stop right there, go to reverbnation.com/napstarsaint, and play his first hit single “No Excuses,” which was one of the top songs on Islandmix.com for an entire month after its release. Starting with a reggae feel and transitioning to rapping at the speed of light over dirty hip-hop beats, all linked together with a catchy, pop refrain—we can’t figute out how Napstar makes it work. But he does, and it’s unclassifiable and original, and frankly, fun to blast through speakers. Or to dance to on a tropical island for that matter.Ramsingh started as a set “reggae artist” who primarily created hooks for hip-hop tycoons. Before long he realized he had a lot of potential—enough to invest more time in doing his own thing and developing into a well-rounded solo artist. In 2008, the talented 19-year-old began writing and recording a slew of singles and even started a record label, Fynen Music Group (FMG), with his close friend and producer, Simple P. Producer Chris Beatz of Playah Syndicate liked what he heard, and jumped into more collaborative work with Napstar, their combined powers bringing us hits like “Wine and Roses,” “Backseat Romance,” and the widely-acclaimed “Staying Strong.”As bad luck would have it, Ramsingh was forced into the hospital in late 2009 due to a trying illness, where he remained until March 2010. Yet he managed to stay true to his music and “stay strong,” immediately returning to the studio with Simple P when released. This marked Napstar’s turning point from a budding reggae musician to a mainstream pop artist. He recorded two worldwide smash hits, “C-Drive” and “Speed of Light,” the former making it as far as the #3 song on music charts in Aruba this past summer. It was during this time, at the peak of his career thus far, that Napstar Saint met up with KRISP magazine, forming a powerful alliance that continues to break barriers everyday. We foresee Napstar Saint rising up the charts and taking the music world by storm—and we can’t wait to watch it happen!
