Before I could read, write or spit a rhyme, this was my truth. I learned early in life that the circumstances you are born into do not necessarily dictate your reality, who you are, or even better, where you are going. Before I could read, write or spit a rhyme, this was my truth. I learned early in life that the circumstances you are born into do not necessarily dictate your reality, who you are, or even better, where you are going. This was certainly the case growing up in a multi-generation household in Washington D.C. where I watched a resilient great-grandmother and grandfather provide, struggle, and sacrifice for their family. While growing up under their care, I learned life-lasting lessons about unconditional love, how to be strong in the face of adversity, and trusting in God. I also learned what I did not want in my life during these years since I spent most of my childhood without the much needed direction of a father (my father was incarcerated off and on for several years), and witnessed firsthand the negative consequences of substance abuse (my maternal grandmother, who battled drug addiction, also lived with my great-grandparents). Instead of allowing these negative experiences to overshadow the many blessings in my life, I channeled my energy to the written word, and verbal expressions known as rap. For over ten years, I have been honing my skills as a rapper in the Northern Virginia area. I have performed at numerous talent shows and sold hundreds of mixed tapes to a growing fan base. Often times, my mixed tapes would sell 5000 plus copies. Recently, I relocated to Atlanta in search of new opportunities that will expand my music. I look forward to sharing my craft with a larger fan base that will extract from my lyrics what I have worked so hard to convey – that life, good and bad, put to music and expressed in words is nourishment for the soul!
